Accommodation

Hotel reservations for FFA'24 school and/or workshop should be made directly by the participants. Some hotel recommendations are listed below. However, both the school and workshop venues are close to some of Japan's major cities, so there are many good hotels available. There is no special rates negotiated for FFA'24.

 

for School

There are not many restaurants or hotels around the Kyushu University Ito Campus, where the school will be held. We strongly recommend that those attending the school stay at a hotel in the Hakata or Tenjin area, where you can find many restaurants and shops. It takes a little over one hour by public transportation from these areas to Ito Campus. Below are links to booking.com for these areas for your reference.

There is a hotel called Glocal Hotel Itoshima near the Ito campus. However, as mentioned earlier, there are no commercial facilities nearby and transportation access is not good. It takes about 25 minutes to get to the school venue on foot from the hotel. We do not recommend walking up a gentle slope during the hot summer months.

 

for Workshop

The workshop venue, Osaka University's Toyonaka Campus, is located in the northern part of Osaka. It is accessible to the center of Osaka city in about 30 minutes by the monorail and train. There are many hotels in Osaka, but we recommend staying in one of the following three areas for transportation convenience.

Shin-Osaka area

Shin-Osaka Station is where the Shinkansen bullet train stops. It takes about 30 minutes to get to Shibahara-Handai-mae Station, the nearest station to the workshop venue, by connecting the subway and monorail. There are many restaurants and pubs around Shin-Osaka Station and the surrounding subway stations.

Umeda area

The Umeda area is Osaka's largest transportation hub, with convenient access to the airport, Shinkansen stations, and everywhere else. It takes about 30 minutes to reach Shibahara-Handai-mae Station, the nearest station to the workshop venue, by train and monorail. It is one of the leading commercial areas in western Japan, with modern shopping centers, restaurants, pubs, and hotels.

Senri-Chuo area

It takes only 12 minutes by monorail from Senri-Chuo Station to Shibahara-Handai-mae Station, the nearest station to the workshop venue. It is also conveniently located 13 minutes to Shin-Osaka Station and 20 minutes to Umeda Station by subway.
